Emergency Service

When Extreme Weather Hits... 

Check the current status on the Snow & Extreme weather page. As driving conditions improve, service will be upgraded gradually. We plan to make changes to service at 9 AM, Noon, 3 PM and 7 PM on weekdays and 10 AM and 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

During Emergency Service operations, buses will not follow a regular schedule. Click here for start and end-of-service times.

Emergency Service Routes by Region - Weekday  & Saturday 

If Kitsap Transit activates Emergency Service on Saturdays, certain sections of routes shown on the maps will NOT be served:

  • In North Kitsap, we will not operate service from the North Viking Transit Center to Kingston on Saturdays.
  • In South Kitsap, we will not operate service from Mullenix Park & Ride to the Southworth Ferry Terminal on Saturdays.

North Kitsap

Emergency service bus stop list


Poulsbo/Silverdale  

  • Service will operate in both directions.  
  • The bus will travel from the Silverdale Transit Center to the North Viking Transit Center using Highway 3 and Highway 305. On return trips to Silverdale, the bus will travel the reverse route.  

Poulsbo/Bainbridge 

  • Service will operate in both directions.  
  • The bus will travel Highway 305 between the North Viking Transit Center and the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal. 

Poulsbo/Kingston 
DOES NOT OPERATE ON SATURDAYS

  • Service will operate in both directions between the North Viking Transit Center and the Kingston Ferry Terminal on Bond Road. No stops on Bond Road between the North Viking Transit Center and George's Corner Park & Ride.

East to West Bremerton via Downtown 

  • Service will operate in both directions and will make all stops.  
  • Departing the West Bremerton Transit Center (WBTC), the bus will travel Auto Center Way, Kitsap Way, Sixth Street, Warren Avenue, and Burwell Street to the Bremerton Transportation Center (BTC).  
  • Departing BTC, the bus will travel Washington Avenue, 11th Street, Pacific Avenue, and Sixth Street before traveling a loop from Naval Avenue, 11th Street, Callow Avenue, Sixth Street and Kitsap Way back to WBTC. 
  • Departing the Wheaton Way Transit Center (WWTC), the bus will travel Wheaton Way, Sheridan Road, and Lower Wheaton Way to the Manette Bridge. The bus will then travel Washington Avenue, Burwell Street and Pacific Avenue to BTC.  
  • Returning to WWTC, the bus will travel Washington Avenue, Burwell Street, Warren Avenue and Sylvan Way to the transit center. 

West to East Bremerton to Silverdale 

  • Service will operate in both directions.  
  • From the West Bremerton Transit Center (WBTC), the bus will travel Kitsap Way, Highway 3, and Austin Drive to Erlands Point. It will then travel Chico Way, Silverdale Way, Myhre Road, Ridgetop Boulevard and Sid Uhinck Drive to the Silverdale Transit Center (STC). 

South Kitsap

Port Orchard Loop  

  • Service will operate in one direction to connect people to the Kitsap Transit Port Orchard Foot Ferry to Bremerton. 
  • From the Port Orchard Ferry Dock, the bus will travel Sidney Avenue, Bay Street, Cline Avenue, Kitsap Street, Seattle Avenue, Dwight Street, Harrison Avenue and Division Avenue before hitting Sidney Avenue. The bus will travel Sidney Avenue, Tremont Avenue, Pottery Avenue and Lippert Street back to Sidney. The bus will then travel Lund Avenue to Madrona Drive and will serve the east side of Madrona Loop to Village Lane, and then Mile Hill Drive, Bethel Avenue and Bay Street to return to the ferry dock. 

Port Orchard Ferry/Southworth Ferry 
DOES NOT OPERATE ON SATURDAYS

  • Connects passengers from the Kitsap Transit Port Orchard Foot Ferry to the Southworth Ferry and the Harper Church Park and Ride. Service operates in both directions.  
  • From the Port Orchard Foot Ferry Dock, the bus will travel Bay Street, Bethel Avenue, and Mile Hill Drive to Southworth Drive. From the Southworth Ferry Terminal, the bus will travel Sedgwick Road to the Harper Church Park and Ride and back to the Southworth Ferry Terminal before returning to the Port Orchard Ferry.

Service between the Bremerton Transportation Center and Silverdale Transit Center: Service will operate in both directions along Burwell Street and Highway 303. In Silverdale, service will operate in one direction from the Silverdale Way exit to Silverdale Way and then from Ridgetop Boulevard to the Silverdale Transit Center.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Kitsap Transit Emergency Service?
A: Emergency Service is designed to connect Kitsap’s communities using arterial roads. Buses serve major roadways between Bainbridge, Poulsbo, Silverdale, Bremerton and Port Orchard. Local and fast ferries will still operate if sailing conditions are deemed acceptable.

A: During Emergency Service operations, buses will not follow a regular schedule. Click here for start and end-of-service times.

Q: Do I need to be at a marked stop to wait for the Bus?
A: Yes, please use existing bus stops to catch the bus. 

• If your stop is on a hill, please walk to a stop on flat ground.

• When tow trucks, plows, sanders or abandoned vehicles are blocking a portion of the street near your stop, walk to the nearest stop on a clear street.

• Give yourself plenty of time to get to the bus stop in the snow and dress warmly.

• When you see the bus, step back from the curb onto the sidewalk or grass.  Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before approaching the door.

• The floor of the bus may be slippery.
