Minimum Qualifications & Entry Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire
- Valid WA State Driver’s License
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background check

- Only online applications will be accepted and must include a complete application with job history and answers to supplemental questions. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Benefits
- Recruitment incentive of up to $7,000 paid in three installments upon reaching specific milestones. This incentive is scheduled to expire on August 31, 2025, for new Routed and ACCESS operators and on October 22, 2025, for new Worker/Driver operators.
- First payment: $1,500 upon newly-hired operators obtaining their commercial driver's license (CDL) permit and medical examiner's certificate; newly-hired operators who already are fully licensed receive $2,000 after completing their second week of training.
- Second payment: $2,000 upon completing 80 hours of solo driving (independently driving without supervision).
- Third payment: $3,000 upon completing 2,080 hours of solo driving.
- Longevity step increases at 15 years of employment (2% above current rate), 20 years, (4% above) and 25 years (8% above).
- Medical, Dental and Vision: Full-time employees and their dependents receive medical benefits through Kaiser Permanente or Blue Cross.
- Transit privileges on fixed route and Kitsap Fast Ferries.
- Retirement (pension): Kitsap Transit participates in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
- Vacation/Sick (PTO) Pay: Full-time drivers earn 22 days of leave a year, pro-rated accrual based on hours worked.
- Holiday Pay: Full-time drivers receive ten paid scheduled holidays, plus two floating days.
