What is Pingo?

Pingo is a safe and easy way for you to share a ride. With the Ride Pingo app, request your ride and the bus will pick you up wherever you are. No need to walk to a bus stop. Depending on your location, you may need to walk to a safe location for the bus to pick you up. The bus will pick you up at the intersection nearest to your requested pick-up location. Our buses cannot navigate certain streets and will not travel down driveways or dead-end streets.

How to use the app

Follow along step by step.

Book your ride

  1. Enter your destination.
  2. The app will show the fare and the estimated time of arrival (ETA) (in minutes) for when the bus will arrive at your pickup location. If you’re traveling with others, you can change the number requesting a ride from one to up to six passangers.
  3. Click the “Request Your Ride” button to book a trip.

TIP: Want to book a ride in advance? Click on “Schedule Trip” and follow the prompts. You can book one or more trips up to seven days in advance. You can view these trips at any time by clicking on “My Trips” in the app menu and making sure “Upcoming” is shaded in the filter at the top of the screen.

BI RIDE TIP: Check out Transit Connect, a Ride Pingo feature for on-demand rides to get you there in time to catch your ferry. Ride with confidence. Transit Connect is currently only available on BI Ride.

Track the bus in real time

Once you’ve requested a ride, the app displays a map showing the real-time location of the bus and the approximate ETA (in minutes) for when the bus will arrive at your pickup location. Follow the bus in the app -- in real time -- as it moves toward your location.

TIP: While you wait, you can send a message to the driver if there’s an issue. Click the “Cancel” button to cancel the ride.

Pay for your ride

If you opted for In-Vehicle Payment when you booked the ride, you’ll pay the bus operator. Kitsap Transit also accepts exact cash, ORCA and Transit GO Ticket for fare payment.

If you  are paying throught the Ride Pingo app, when you reach your destination, the app will charge your credit card the applicable fare for the ride. You can leave feedback on your experience and rate the ride on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

TIP: You can view your past rides by clicking on “My Trips” in the app menu and making sure “Historical” is shaded in the filter at the top of the screen.

FAQs

Q: Why is the app not working on my phone?

A: The app relies on connections to networks to transmit your location and ride request, as well as the location of the bus. Poor network connection can impact Pingo’s performance. Unfortunately the network connection is beyond our control. You can try to turn off Wi-Fi temporarily on your phone; some users have reported issues with the app when Wi-Fi is enabled. If the signal strength indicator on your phone shows a weak mobile network connection, try to move to an area where the phone registers a stronger mobile network signal.
