Kingston Fast Ferry and bus service update for Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024

Kingston Fast Ferry service is currently suspended due to mechanical issues with several vessels in Kitsap Transit’s fleet. Kitsap Transit will operate bus service between Kingston and the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 30, for customers impacted by the cancelations. See below for details on bus service and an updated timeline for the return of Kingston Fast Ferry service.

Bus Service

Passengers traveling from Kingston to Bainbridge Island can catch a bus from the Kingston Ferry Terminal at 5:35 AM, 7:05 AM and 8:45 AM. Passengers arriving in Bainbridge can catch a bus to Kingston at 6:15 AM, 7:50 AM and 9:30 AM.

Passengers needing transportation between Bainbridge Island and Kingston should look for Kitsap Transit buses staged at the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal (BITC) and ask our operators if they need direction in boarding the correct bus. We plan to have buses to Kingston for Bainbridge Island Ferry vessels arriving at 3:45 PM, 4:35 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM and 7:15 PM.

Kingston Fast Ferry Service Update

The primary vessels on the Kingston and Southworth routes, M/V Enetai and M/V Commander, are both out of service due to a failed part in the jet propulsion system. The M/V Finest, the backup vessel for Kingston, is also out of service for repairs. Kitsap Transit has been operating fast ferry service from Kingston using the Rich Passage 1 (RP1), which usually serves the Bremerton-Seattle route.

Earlier this week, the RP1 was pulled from Kingston to serve the Bremerton route because another Bremerton vessel, the Reliance, required engine repairs. Engine repairs have been completed on the Reliance, and Kitsap Transit expects to be able to operate fast ferry service from Kingston on Saturday, Aug. 31, using the RP1.

Additionally, repairs on the Enetai and the Finest are progressing ahead of schedule, and we hope to be able to return both vessels to service in mid-September. At that time, Enetai will operate the Southworth-Seattle route, and the Solano and Finest will operate the Kingston-Seattle route.

We realize that these disruptions to ferry service have been difficult for passengers, and we are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
