Traveling in a Large Group
PLANNING YOUR TRIP
Please notify Kitsap Transit seven days in advance when you have a group of 10 or more riding on the bus or Local Foot Ferry. Advance notice allows us to make every effort to accommodate the largest number of riders safely. Need help planning your trip? We are happy to assist. Call us today at 1.800.501.7433.
Our Fast Ferry service is designed for commuters and boards on a first come, first serve basis. Due to limited space, we recommend large groups consider riding Washington State Ferries.
BOARDING
Please sit together for your trip if possible. When boarding, please do not occupy the designated seats for the elderly and disabled. If your group is taking the Local Foot Ferry, please use caution on the dock and wait together. Board after a crew member signals the ferry is ready. Coast Guard regulations and the availability of children's life vests may require large groups to split up and ride on separate sailings.
Notice: We can't guarantee all members of a large group will get a seat or be able to board the same vehicle/vessel, but we will do our best to meet your needs. Some riders may be required to stand if space is limited. When the capacity of the bus or ferry will not safely accommodate current passengers and a group waiting to board, preference is given to individual passengers.
PAYING FOR YOUR TRIP
To speed up boarding, a single fare payment for the group is preferred. You can pay fare in advance for the group or use an ORCA card during boarding. If neither of those methods is feasible, each rider can pay with cash or individual ORCA card.
Children/Youth: Eighteen (18) and under ride FREE of charge with a regional ORCA Free Youth Transit Pass or valid student ID. Children five (5) and under do not require identification,
but must be accompanied by a responsible passenger.
